After a four week marketing campaign, the former Meade County Public Library buildings and land were sold by online auction with all bidding done exclusively online. The property sold for $174,900 to an investor from Brandenburg, KY.
The property had its own website and there were 2,137 unique visitors to the website prior to the ending date. The potential purchasers were from 23 states and 10 foreign countries including Japan, China, Egypt, Macedonia, France, Ukraine, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. There were a total of 12 online registered bidders for the real estate auction. A bid center was located at the site to help any bidder who needed assistance.
The first bid of $70,000 was placed online October 16th with the remainder of the bidding taking place on the final day. After the online auction of the real estate was concluded, the remaining office equipment and shelving were sold at the live onsite auction.
